Difficulty level
Medium. Although there is very little walking in most of the locations, the hot and humid weather is very tiring in the Amazon. In Amazonia National Park is where we will be doing more walking. An average of 6-10km a day. Although this seems a lot, it is during the whole day and the trails are not steep. In the Manaus region we climb up to canopy towers but going up nice and slow will do the trick.

I must admit that I was a bit worried when our friends at Brazil Birding Experts had to find a new tour leader / guide after the itinerary had been agreed. However, I needn't have worried at all. Andre de Luca was absolutely outstanding - sharp ears and eyes, knowing all the bird calls, and excellent skills for making sure we all saw the birds. On top of that, he was in complete control of the logistics and he was very pleasant company as well. In short, Andre was the perfect tour leader and guide for our group!

BBE dis a great job with this tour. The guide, Andre, is top-notch, really outstanding with the birds and with the guests. We stayed at pretty nice places and enjoyed surprisingly good food given the remoteness. Birding was a bit quiet (drought this year) but the quality was excellent and the final list was well beyond expectations. The pace as a bit aggressive for me personally, though others like it that way. All in all a fun trip to an exciting destination.

Our tour guide André de Luca was outstanding. An incredibly sharp birder, a great organizer and moreover a very sympathecic person. If you ever get him as a bird guide, you should feel very lucky.
