Northeast Popular Tour 2nd Edition
January 24 to February 10, 2026
18
days
Difficulty
Medium
On this fascinating trip through Northeast Brazil we will travel approximately 4.000km in 18 days, through the states of Ceará and Bahia. Although there is more than enough driving, the fantastic birds we see every single day will keep us motivated throughout the entire trip. We go from the endangered Gray-breasted Parakeet in Guaramiranga, passing by the gorgeous Araripe Manakin, Lear’s Macaw, Hooded Visorbearer until we finish our adventure in Porto Seguro with the magnificent White-winged Cotinga and many other specialties, crossing a wide variety of biomes (Atlantic Forest, Caatinga and Cerrado), habitats and many special birds and endemics along the way.

Difficulty level
Medium. In most of the places there is very little walking. On 3-4 days of the trip there will be longer hikes that do not exceed 8 km. Not a photo tour but there are very good photo opportunities throughout the trip.

Extend Your Journey with the Northern Minas Gerais Pre-Tour. Add this extension to explore additional destinations looking for iconic endemics like the Blue-eyed Ground-Dove and Moustached Woodcreeper, among other highlights.

One of the best tours i've been on that got the birds I wanted to see.

Everything was excellent. We even survived the 600-710 km transports due to good driving and cars (a new Jeep and an OK Renault Duster).
Erling Jirle
Excellent guide, with perfect knowledge of localities and the birds, with big enthusiasm. Very east to come along with.

One of the best organized tours I have ever been on. Extremely comfortable with the communications from Olivia before the trip. Upon arrival we were picked up by Ciro and Boka and then the fun never ceased for the next two weeks. Ciro never rested until all the target birds were found - his knowledge of the whereabouts of the birds in NE Brazil is unparalleled. And when Ciro was struggling Boka's ear would inevitably find the bird. Vehicles were excellent, Accommodations were perfect and the daily food choices were certainly not for those on a diet. A real rollercoaster of great birds day by day...Can't wait to go back!

If you want to see the birds of Brazil you deserve to go with the best, Brazil Birding Experts. While on the NE Brazil tour Tatiana Pongiluppi was absolutely the best guide I have ever had. Not only did she make sure my first trip after knee surgery was comfortable, she produced all the birds I had hoped for and more. On my extension to Intervales, Felipe kept finding new birds all day, every day including two unexpected lifers on the road leaving the park on our way to the airport.
