South Brazil Complete Tour - January

Twenty-one days across the deep south of Brazil, from subtropical waterfalls to open pampas, chasing endemics found nowhere else. We begin at the thundering falls and Atlantic Forest of Iguaçu, home of the Black-fronted Piping Guan, then climb into the Araucaria forests of Paraná for Araucaria Tit-Spinetail, Saffron Toucanet, and the elusive Helmeted Woodpecker. On the coast of Santa Catarina around Joinville we search for southern specialties like Kaempfer's Tody-Tyrant and Scaled Chachalaca, before the highland grasslands and the lagoons of Lagoa do Peixe, alive with shorebirds. We finish on the rolling pampas of Bagé and across the border in Argentina's Iberá marshes, adding grassland and wetland birds to a checklist topping 650 species.
